The results of the parliamentary elections of the Republic, which took place on March 13, caused several reactions across the country.Among them is the vote led by former President Alvaro Uribe Velez, since the Democratic Center Party lost its place in the legislative elections compared to the elections held in 2018.

According to the results of the Registrar, the Democratic Center, where 99.41% of the polls were counted, took 14 seats in the Senate and 16 seats in the House of Representatives. Compared to the seats held in 2018, the party won 20 seats in the Senate and 32 seats in the House of Representatives, which is twice what was achieved in the recent elections.

This situation has been exacerbated by the recent resignation of Oscar Ivan Zulua, a candidate for the Democratic Center, as a presidency. The militants were convinced that they would withdraw from the election competition and give support to the winner of the presidential consultation of the Colombian team Federico Gutiérrez.

This situation was warned by journalist Julio Sánchez Cristo in front of a microphone on La W radio in an interview with Alvaro Uribe.

The interviewer spoke to him with party members, and everyone told him that the former president “led a country that had done a lot for Colombia and was called to ruin because of public order.” However, some have also pointed out the favors that he can bring at the moment. The Center Democrats are not as many as in other times. “I think they may have to go further and reflect on whether or not they should continue party politics,” he added.

According to Julio Sánchez Cristo, members of the Democratic Center did not dare to tell the former senator to withdraw from politics, so a journalist asked such a question. “My struggle for democracy will end on the day God extinguishes my life.”

The former president explained that he was not born “under the vanity of being president of the Republic,” and said that he grew up in a house close to political violence attacking Colombia. Although he had already received comments asking for withdrawal, he said that there are still many problems related to him in countries such as security, drug trafficking, small trafficking, starvation, and even mentioned controversial proposals about Gustavo Petro's colpensions.

Álvaro Uribe (Álvaro Uribe) warned, fearing that “take away the pension, let it depend on the national fund and raise Argentina.” Then, raising funds and receiving pensions, inflation has already swallowed it.”

This is one of the many reasons why the president explained why he would continue to stand in the political framework of the country. At the same time, he said, “I try to do things in a way that is not intrusive and does not interfere”, highlighting the obstacles faced by the Democratic Center during the parliamentary election campaign. The former senator had previously It has been warned that it is not possible to reach the municipalities of Catatumbo and the municipalities of other regions, since armed groups exist on the sidelines of the law.

Regarding the reduction of seats in Congress, Álvaro Uribe assured on March 15 that the main responsibility for “damage to my reputation” was himself. The former president gave these words by encouraging members of the Democratic Center to “not become a hat that prevents this construction.”
