Pulque is, together with mezcal and tequila, one of the most representative drinks in Mexico. It has pre-Hispanic origin and is made from the fermentation of agave or maquey which results in this thick and viscous consistency. This year the ninth edition of Pulquefest will be held, a major event in Mexico City where you can taste this elixir, whether natural or cured in various flavors.
For lovers of this drink of the gods: the 2022 edition of Pulquefest is just around the corner, it will be held on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April at Forum 28, Av Ribera de San Cosme 28, San Rafael in the Cuahtemoc mayor's office, very close to the Metrobus Revolution in Insurgentes. With a schedule from 11 am to 10 pm and will cost 10 pesos per person plus consumption, it is known that the place has parking.
Pulque is so famous that it is consumed throughout Mexico and part of the United States, but the entities that stand out in production are Mexico City, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Morelos and Michoacán. However, a few years ago a holiday was implemented specifically for this famous drink to which medicinal properties are attributed.
This is an event for all ages where you can enjoy the best exhibitors of this drink, some of the flavors that can be found in pulque are: strawberry, pine nut, raspberry, cocoa, mango, among others. Although last year access was free, this year we are looking for a donation to continue holding events of this type.
It is known that several shops in the City and also from other parts of Mexico will participate in the event, one of them being the Pulqueria Pirata, which has 80 years of betrayal, in addition to being considered one of the top 5 pulquerias in the capital. It will also have products and foods in addition to pulque such as mezcal, cuts of meat, Mexican appetizers, snacks, textiles, jewelry, handicrafts, footwear, clothing, accessories, pastries, beer handicraft, beauty products, children's toys, pet accessories, bags and wallets, among others.
As music cannot be missed, throughout the day there will be Mexican folk dance with three invited groups with a tribute to different regions of Mexico such as contemporary dance, Tahitian dance, aerial dance, urban and Arabic dance and also a violin performance. There will also be pre-Hispanic performance, body paint, salsa group, rock bands, singers and children's characters.
It is undoubtedly an event not to be missed, it should be noted that all this will be carried out with the strictest sanitary measures to ensure that all attendees enjoy the stay and at the same time remain safe within the event, the recommendations are the use of face masks that will be mandatory in everything moment, the healthy distance and the use of antibacterial gel.
