Since 2016, the presidency of Uganda, where Sadurni resided, and the National Press Committee have expressed their condolences to colleagues from the Uganda International Press Association (IPAU). At an event held last Friday in honour of Sadurni in Kampala, Ugandan opposition leader, politician and singer Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) highlighted the photographer's ambition to capture injustice with his image and expressed his condolences to all family and friends. The other party said on Twitter the next day on his social media account: “I want God to give eternal rest to the soul of our friend.” Ugandan activist Stella Nyanzi, known for her criticism of the presidential regime that has ruled the country since 1986, also mourned the death of a photojournalist on her Facebook page. Nyanzi said: “At the forefront of a peaceful and non-violent struggle, we will lose our audacity as the camera pursues the perfect moment to record painful resistance.” pm/pa/push
