“Perfect Liars” and “The Boulevard”: Two Wattpad hits that will be series and movies

Wattpad Webtoon Studio, a global publishing and entertainment division designed for fans of comics and online novels, has announced that it will implement two popular stories written in Spanish for Wattpad: “Perfect Liars” and “Boulevard”.

The phenomenon of Alex Mirez, a young writer of “The Perfect Liar” with 150 million readers, will be implemented as a series, and “The Boulevard” read by the writer Flor em Salvador will be a feature film.

It is the first Spanish project funded through the Wattpad Webtoon Studio Development Fund, created specifically to finance and promote the project based on content distributed by these two online reading platforms.

The new project joins the company's growing proposal, which is currently developing and producing more than 100 film and television projects worldwide, and records an important step in the creation of Spanish content for the Wattpad Webtoon studio.

Alex Mirez (Caracas, 1994) is one of the stars of online fiction. He published his first novel “Choking” with the Spanish publisher Nova Casa in 2016, and later two parts of “The Perfect Liar”, which recorded more than 80 million readings on Wattpad. So far, he wrote 11 novels between real and digital, and the most recent “Strange” was published in installments every week for more than a year, and finally in June 2021 it has been edited in real format.

His youth drama “Perfect Liars” is produced in Mexico and has been adapted as a series by José Miguel Nuñez with screenwriters Anna Grazales and Paola Mazlam.

Nuñez worked as a lead writer on Netflix's original series “Rebel” and the series “Pinch Mumias” (Univision), and then participated in the project, and is a co-producer and main writer.

His writing credits also include “La Reina del Sur” (Telemundo) and “El Bato” (NBC Universe). The credits of Grayless and Mazalam include the upcoming release of the feature film “Known of This Was a Mistake” produced by Cinema 226 and Videosine.

Grazeless & Mazlam is producing 10 series for Netflix, and is developing programs for feature films from Pablo Lalen's Oscar-winning company Fabula, Warner Media and Sony.

“Perfect Liars” is part of a series of three books published by Penguin Random House in Spain, two of which have appeared so far and have been reprinted 17 times

“Boulevard” is a romance novel that is part of a four-part series by the Mexican writer Flor em Salvador of Wattpad, which will be adapted by the successful author of youth books, Javier Ruacas. And Atresmedia Cine's upcoming feature, “Somos Fuego,” and a series under development is based on the biography of violinist Aaron Lee, “Who Am I”

Salvador, known under the pseudonym Aciloré from Wattpad, studied medicine, but from 2014 he decided to devote himself to writing and publishing his first novel “Boulevard” on the stage. Penguin Random House España. His most recent work is called “Silence” and deals with controversial topics such as euthanasia, death and human relations.

“Boulevard”, which turned into a film, is produced in Spain.

President of Wattpad Webtoon Studio, “Perfect Liars” and “Boulevard” has gained popularity among millions of readers and is deeply interested in the Spanish-speaking market around the world.
