At least 21 people, including two policemen, were killed in a jihadist attack on buses and trucks in southwestern Niger near Burkina Faso on Wednesday. This was reported to AFP on Thursday by a local source in the security service.

“As a result of the terrorist attack carried out by a gunman on a motorcycle and a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, 19 people among the passengers of the bus were killed, including two policemen and as a result of the attack on the truck, “the source said.

Buses and trucks caught fire, and sources added anonymity as a condition.

The source added that two people in a truck with fruits and vegetables were burned and five were seriously injured, including a policeman who was taken to the capital Niamey during the attack on the bus.

Seven passengers were found who survived the bus, including four women and three men.
