The South American Youth Games is a multidisciplinary event organized by the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR) that is reserved for athletes between 14 and 18 years of age. In addition to sports, they have educational and cultural programs that include different activities for the participants.

The young Antioquia, who is a national champion, has had a quite demanding schedule of competitions and after several events in recent weeks in Barranquilla and Florida, he managed to get the points needed to obtain a quota and represent the coffee country in the South American Youth Championship.

The first edition of these Games was held in Lima, Peru, in 2013. It had a program of 19 sports and 14 countries participated. Four years later, in 2017, it was the turn of Santiago de Chile. The inauguration took place at the National Stadium and, as in the first edition, the program had 19 sports and 14 countries were present.

The turn in this third edition is for Argentina, in which the games will be held in Rosario, Santa Fe province, between April 28 and May 8, with the participation of 2,500 athletes from 15 countries competing in a programme of 26 sports. Everything will take place in Independencia Park, which will be transformed into the South American Single Park.

Before starting this event, Samuel will continue to prepare himself with another competition to be held on San Andrés Island, an exercise that opens the curtain for this year's most important sporting event, the South American championship.

The sports that will be part of Rosario 2022 are: athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, cycling, beach handball, boxing, climbing, fencing, futsala, artistic gymnastics, hockey 5, judo, karate, weightlifting, Olympic wrestling, swimming, figure skating, speed skating, rugby 7, skateboarding, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shot with arch, triathlon and beach volleyball.

In the South American Single Park, the Fan Fest stands out, a place where the public can enjoy the Gastronomic Plaza, pre-sports spaces and sponsors, as well as the Main Award Center, where the ceremonies of medals to athletes will be held. In addition, there will be an electronic games tent and a tourism and cultural sector.

Likewise, 7 Colombian judokas managed to obtain the quotas for the divisions where Colombia will seek medals that will place it in the first places on the overall standings. Manuela Crespo del Valle in the 44 kg category, Wendy Golú del Valle in 52 kgs, Saray Noval from Bogotá in 63 kgs and Karen Agudelo del Valle in more than 63 kgs, make up the women's team. For its part, the men's group is made up of the Antioquian Jerónimo Pino in 55 kgs, the Caucano Jonathan Castillo in 66 kgs and the Antioquia Lucas Guerrero in 81 kgs, will seek the best results in the contest.

This is to continue the great history of medals that Colombia has, ranking second, with 189 medals, 75 gold, 55 silver and 59 bronze, only below the cariocas and above Argentina.
