Massive riots and marches in San Andrés after the murder of artist and social leader 'Heti'

The community on the island took to the streets to demand justice and demand the safety of the place.

The murder of Fabian Pérez Hooker (Fabian Pérez Hooker), known as' Heti 'on the island of San Andres, shocked a large part of the community that occupies the vicinity of the governor, the airport and performs various seats at the nerve points of this city, and eventually announced their presence on the pier of the island.

According to Caracol Radio, Colonel Maria Gomez, commander of the Police of San Andres, stated that the murder of Fabian Perez became an isolated case considering that the attack was not against him, but that he was trying to end the life of 'Pitopius' for the interests of the household by prison and at the time of the attack, he seems to have violated this measure.

According to Indepaz, 'Hety' was sharing with several people in his house, where criminals arrived and were shot twice without saying a word, which became an act of deep suffering for the islanders. Through his music, he emphasized artistic expression and stood out as a cultural ambassador. Together with his companion 'Jambo', raizal traveled through various stages with indigenous music from the region.

In 2018, the Ombudsman Office issued a structural early warning 046-18, which highlighted a serious danger due to the presence of illegal armed groups trying to exercise territorial control throughout the archipelago. In this case, the river area of the island was used to designate the oceanarms trafficking, money, smuggling and drug routes that directly affect the Raizal community, social leaders and the community as a whole. The Ombudsman's office was able to confirm that the factors of forced migration and murder prevail on the island.

The director of Óscar Gómez Heredia arrived at the scene to take charge of the arrest of criminals already identified, according to the government of the archipelago. This situation also caused discomfort for the residents, considering that, despite this announcement by the governor, more than 72 hours have passed and there is no diligence corresponding to the situation. Gómez Heredia promised the community that he would not leave the island until he found the whereabouts of the criminals and achieved the island.

Pastor Augusto Francis regretted what had happened and pointed out that the crisis in the city was aggravating due to the considerable amount of weapons in San Andrés. “There are a lot of weapons on the streets; part of the territory we have, there are too many weapons on the streets, we know that they do not enter through the airport, here is the sea; there is a coast guard, there is an army here, there is a battalion, there is a police, a prosecutor's office, but the island is full of weapons.”

Both the relatives of the victims and the citizens of San Andres reminded General Gomez that when two police officers died in this city in October last year, there was compensation and that the operation was successful. Therefore, they demanded that the process be carried out in the same way, taking into account the importance of the social leaders of the islanders in this case.

Pastor Francis pointed out that General Gomez had already made an appointment last year, saying that the same authorities had ratified the criminals they criticized. “I don't know if it was you who arrived when the two cops were murdered. Currently, at that time we were going to enter every neighborhood to capture and dismantle drug trafficking, microtrafficking, all weapons, all the criminal gangs that exist in San Andrés. Our land is so small that we cannot turn out to be responsible or guilty; fail intelligently”.
