Mental and emotional stability is a longing present in the life of any human being. There are several activities that everyone practices to improve their mood, to lend a hand for their mental health, to improve their emotional life, in short: these can be exercising, going to therapy, painting, reading, writing, doing yoga, dancing and, of course, sex life is also an important factor and everyone He wears it as he sees fit. Now, with regard to this last point, the Ministry of Youth, which is part of the Mayor's Office of Medellín, promotes the benefits of masturbation as a “source of mental and emotional health”.
So, on his official Twitter account, for the moment, the following information is posted: “Did you know that masturbation is a source of mental and emotional health? Orgasm releases endorphins, serotonin and oxytocin: hormones of happiness that can make a bad day one not to forget. Dedicate this intimate moment to yourself! Make Love to Yourself.” This text was not published in solitude, a video was also shared with the main character of the message: “Masturbation improves your mood”, and an invitation is made to enjoy it in intimacy.
As for the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero Calle, on his Twitter account he replied the information shared by The Secretariat of Youth and added on the subject: “It is a public health approach based on scientific facts. We're not talking straw.”
And well, it is precisely with the aforementioned campaign that an article about the benefits of masturbation has also been shared, information that gathers multiple references, analyses and expert opinions.
“The study of masturbation as a healthy practice has found its main development in the analysis of the vegetative functions of physiological health, resulting in the achievement of orgasm individually and at will, including the presence of higher levels of release of oxytocin and endorphins, which results in benefits such as contribute to strengthening the immune system and helping to achieve and sustain longer periods of restful sleep. For its part, in men, masturbation has been shown to be beneficial, preventing the onset of diseases such as prostate cancer (Aboul-Enein et al., 2016)”, is part of the article shared on the Medellín Joven page (Mayor's Office of Medellín) that carries by name 'Masturbation and health'.
The topics related to sexuality, sexual life, sexual activity, in short, are topics that generally generate conversation, debate and/or controversy. And, in a world starring social networks, reactions to issues like this echo more.
In this case, as for the campaign 'Make Love' in Medellín, there are several opinions that run on Twitter, here are some of them: both for and against, some with a critical and annoying look because masturbation is promoted for such delicate issues as mental health and, in addition, that the female image is precisely used in the promotion.
