Although the formal announcement will be made around 10:00 in the morning, it was leaked that the presidential candidate of the Centro Esperanza Coalition, Sergio Fajardo, elected Luis Gilberto Murillo, former Minister of Environment, to be his vice-presidential formula.

On the morning of March 16, Fajardo had assured that he held meetings with all his consulting colleagues such as Juan Manuel Galán, Jorge Robledo, Carlos Amaya, also with Humberto de la Calle and even with Ingrid Betancourt, but he had ruled out that any of them were chosen as a formula for his aspiration to the House of Narino.

Finally, he would have elected Academician Murillo, who was aspiring independently to the Presidency together with the Colombia Renaissance movement. The former minister tried in the past to compete in the consultation of the Esperanza Center, but internal disagreements caused him to desist from joining that political group.

On March 17, Murillo wrote a message on his Twitter account confirming the change in direction of his presidential aspiration, in relation to the results of last Sunday's consultation.

“After the results of Sunday we embark on a new path in search of the Presidency, I will fight to win the elections in which I hope there is respect among the aspirants @s. Congratulations to those of us who follow this path that seeks well-being from different shores,” he wrote.
