As last week, left-wing organizations prepared a mobilization to the National Congress in rejection of the agreement of the national government with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to refinance the debt, which after obtaining half a sanction in the Chamber of Deputies is being debated this afternoon in the Senate.

After noon, protesters from the Quebracho group began to gather at the crossroads of 9 de Julio and Belgrano avenues. They cut the entire route in the north direction and, after staying there for a while with drums, trumpets and flags, they began to march slowly towards the Legislative Palace shortly after 3 pm. The demonstration, at the moment, does not affect the Metrobus and the Congreso station of Metro A is not available.

On another day of traffic cuts and chaos in downtown Buenos Aires, the Left Front and the Workers (FIT Unidad) will also join the protests. As announced, where appropriate, the call is scheduled for 17.30 in the vicinity of the Congress, where a security operation was set up: the perimeter of the enclosure and the Plaza of Congress was closed with hurdles.

The security device was decided to prevent the recurrence of the incidents that occurred last Thursday in Deputies, with an escalation of tension and violence that began a little more than an hour after the official commencement of the session. That day, rubber was first seen burning in front of the building and then an unidentified group of protesters began with a stone attack on the windows of Congress.

The aggressors who acted violently also painted the walls of the building. Almost half an hour after the start of the incidents, the police finally broke into the scene to disperse them.

According to sources from the Buenos Aires Police, on that occasion the operation did not begin before due to the presence of families and minors, who quickly withdrew at the beginning of the violence. It was also pointed out that the area was not fenced from the outset by decision of the National Government. In this regard, in turn, national sources consulted by Infobae pointed out that the measure of not fencing the peripheries since the morning was taken to prevent it from being interpreted as an act of provocation in what had been a peaceful demonstration.

The fact is that everything ended up out of control and during the riots a police officer was the target of a Molotov bomb dropped by the protesters and was injured. Four other police officers from the Buenos Aires Force, during the procedure, were also injured.

In the context of these incidents, Cristina Kirchner's office was also damaged: a group of hooded men threw stones and broke the windows of the vice-president's office, which was at the site — located on the first floor — at the time of the attack.

In relation to this case, the federal court ordered in recent hours a series of searches on the homes of suspects who are part of the persons identified through photos and videos throwing blunt objects and Molotov bombs. On the other hand, one of the detainees in the case, Oscar Santillán, went on hunger strike and his lawyer appealed for pretrial detention.

Meanwhile, in Congress, the parliamentary discussion is taking place with the expectation of knowing what both the Vice-President and Senators K. The Government's forecast is a favorable outcome, thanks to the support of Together for Change and part of the All Front, which is going through moments of strong internal tension after the personal break between Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner.
