After the recent meeting held by the Democratic Center, in order to take stock of the past legislative elections and determine from the bench which candidate they were going to support, former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, explained his position regarding the situation in the country within the political framework, making certain criticism of the Government and reflecting on its interference in national democracy.

Uribe Vélez spoke on W Radio about the rumors calling for his withdrawal from politics, and even from his collective, since they considered that it was time to step aside, as comments arise about some co-supporters who have said that he tends to get in the way of different processes, however, few have been able to tell them. face to face because of its representation in Colombian politics,

The controversial former senator pointed out that his reputation has been unfairly affected, since he has made an important contribution to this party during the time of the campaign that he was like Oscar Iván Zuluaga, stressed: “I have had a very unfair impact on my reputation, but it is a fact I tried to make a contribution without hindering the party, here for 45 days I walked the streets of the homeland in a leaflet, most people welcomed me well, but there were also people who rebuked me, I left with a happy heart because I didn't answer insults when I heard them.”

It should be noted that the Democratic Center does not have many affections in some areas of the country, as the Antioquian politician emphasized when he said that there were areas where political proselytism was impossible, due to the pressure exerted by the community, Uribe explained: “There are also areas of violence where the party is not allowed to work, we don't we can campaign in any of the municipalities of Catatumbo, on the other hand, that has generated divisions in the party, it should also be noted that the government has good things, but there are things that are missing from some very sensitive issues, issues that are being demanded in this party, the Democratic Center is a party that has lost its vocation the issues of disruptive, the government did not push them when we asked for the referendum.” .

Various statements state that Federico Gutiérrez is Álvaro Uribe's candidate for the presidential elections, highlighting that it was a masterful move, however, the leader of the Democratic Center denied these claims, highlighting the work he did with Oscar Iván Zuluaga and his formula Alicia Eugenia Silva, noting: “The candidate of Álvaro Uribe cannot be said now, that the democratic center had a candidate of a transparent origin and a respectable process like Dr. Zuluaga and Dr. Alicia Eugenia Silva, I supported him until the end, the only reproach that Dr. Zuloaga can say about me is that I do not accept something he asks of me in his campaign; to say that they could not vote in the consultation”.

In this catharsis, Álvaro Uribe asked Colombians and their followers for understanding, stressing that he did not seek to dominate the political scene, but simply to contribute to the country, because according to him, he always tries not to be a hindrance to the good development of the nation, the former senator assured: “I ask my compatriots for understanding, I I was not born with the vain figure of collecting titles, I am a fighter for democracy and homeland, I think that in the campaign I just did, I didn't get in the way of national journalism, nor anyone, nor does it get in the way of the party, suddenly they were uncomfortable because of the demands I make, I recognized the good things about the government, but I also spoke out in front to factors of concern”.
