This year is one of the most important for HBO Max due to the film and television releases that will revolutionize the digital catalog. What is it about? For the public on the small screen, the platform is preparing the debut of We Own This City, the next mini-series by David Simon (creator of The Wire) that will take us from returns to Baltimore and prepares for the premiere of Tokyo Vice, starring Ansel Elgort and directed by Michael Mann; as well as The Time Traveler's Wife, Irma Vep, Julia, Minx, The Staircase and Love & Death.
In addition, two major TV franchises are returning as spin-off productions in the first months of the second half of 2022: Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and The Dragon House. The Game of Thrones spinoff is one of the most anticipated spinoffs due to the enormous popularity that the original series gained while airing its eight seasons on the HBO signal.
But let's not forget other titles that are very popular on the platform that will make its long-awaited returns. The acclaimed sci-fi drama Westworld will return with a fourth season and His Dark Materials, the series based on the literary saga of Phillip Pullman , will be back with new episodes. On the other hand, the sequels of The Flight Attendant (with Kaley Cuoco) will be released, which will star Sharon Stone in its second season; Hacks, the comedy-drama that won over critics in 2021; and Barry, whose third season has just released its first teaser. In the world of adult animation, Rick & Morty will return with their sixth series of irreverent episodes.
For movie lovers, the movies coming this year are Evil Dead Rise, the fifth installment of the saga directed by Sam Raimi; the new adaptation of House Party; Father of the Bride (starring Diego Boneta and Isabela Merced); Magic Mike's Last Dance, with Channing Tatum returning to his memorable role. And finally, for young audiences, the romantic and sci-fi comedy Moonshoot Lands.
The Batman, Elvis, DC Super Pet League, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Freed Carnage, The Forever Purge, Fast and Furious 9 and Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City are the movies projected on the big screen that will also be available on the streaming service.
Latin American productions coming to HBO Max
Among the next Argentine films to be released are Echoes of a Crime, starring Diego Peretti and Julieta Cardinali, The Conspiradors, starring Guillermo Francella, which will be available from March 18; and An Argentine Crime, a criminal investigation thriller based on a true event of the military dictatorship. Viajeros, the Mexican movie starring Fernanda Castillo, Alex de la Madrid and Damayanti Quintanar, will also be released; and from Brazil, Procura-Se, a movie based on the eponymous book by Carina Rissi, will be released.
Within the Latin American series, The Bronze Garden has been renewed for a third season, Dias de Gallos will return with a second and Pico da Neblina will also have a continuation. The novelty that is coming is Té para seis, an Argentine romantic comedy that deals with polyamory; Maria Marta, the crime of the country, which tells the events of the murder of the sociologist María Marta Belsunce. From Mexico, the most anticipated is Amsterdam, a comedy from the perspective of two millennials who cross their paths on a famous street in Mexico City. Las Bravas F.C., Coyotil and Weapons of Women will also be released; as will the Brazilian fictions Service Area, No Mundo da Luna, O beijo teenager and Vale dos esquecidos.
Clean Goals, Dirty Money, Brutal Pact: Daniela Pérez Case and PCC: The Secret Power are among the upcoming releases of documentaries made in Latin America. Meanwhile, in the next versions of the reality television catalog, there will be the titles Bake Off Celebrity Colombia, Queen Stars Brasil and The Bridge Brasil.
