The arrest of Juan Gerardo Treviño Chavez, El Huevo, leader of the Northeast Cartel on Sunday, March 13, continues to provoke violence, even though he was already extradited to the United States to continue with its process.
One of the most recent events was reported by the Government of Tamaulipas on Wednesday. In a statement, it was announced that a couple went to the first Civil Registry Office in Nuevo Laredo to request the kingpin's birth certificate.
According to the information, the people identified themselves as the lawyer and the father of Treviño Chavez, who assured that the sole reason for their visit was to request the issuance of this document in the name of whom they claimed to represent.
However, officials indicated that the requested Birth Registry was cancelled on November 13, 2020, by administrative agreement issued by the General Civil Registry Coordination of the Government of Tamaulipas, as it was generated through the use of false data.
For this reason, the lawyer and father of “El Huevo” were informed of the impossibility of making their request. Both immediately withdrew, but returned moments later accompanied by armed civilians with whom they threatened the institution's staff to demand a birth certificate.
The staff complied with the order and found that there was really no way to issue the document. Since they did not accept no for an answer, the couple and the command, using force, demanded the issuance of some recognition of the existence of the birth certificate referred to.
This whole situation was witnessed by the staff of the office, as well as the users who were inside the premises. So far no material loss or person injured by this fact is reported.
Finally, the authorities detailed that the relevant complaints are submitted to the Office of the Attorney-General of Justice and the Attorney-General's Office for their integration and investigation. It was also announced that the Government of the State did not recognize the issuance of any document generated in this situation of violence against Tamaulipas officials.
He is designated as the top leader of the Northeast Cartel (CDN) and its armed arm, known as the Troop of Hell, with which he maintains a fierce struggle with Gulf Cartel cells, as well as territorial disputes against the Old School Zetas.
Before his capture, he had three arrest warrants: one in the state of Tamaulipas for extortion and criminal association, another in the state of Coahuila for intentional homicide and terrorism; and one more for purposes of extradition for conspiracy for drug trafficking and money laundering.
Treviño Chavez is the nephew of the bloodthirsty and last leader of the cartel of the last letter, Miguel Ángel Treviño Morales, the Z-40. El Huevo is the oldest member of another criminal group, Los Treviños, which has a long history in Tamaulipas.
According to a report by the Stratfor agency, El Huevo also intended to control the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. However, there was José Rodolfo Villareal Hernández, “El Gato”, who controls the area by the Los Beltrán Leyva Cartel.
Now, this drug camp will continue with its process in the United States, after Mexican authorities handed him over at the Tijuana border crossing, Baja California, on the bridge that connects with San Diego, California. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Marshals Service received Gerardo Trevino 20 minutes after midnight on March 15.
