Moroccan director Vahid Halilhodzic urged FC Barcelona's left-wing Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (Abdessamad Ezzalzouli) to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after rejecting his first January call as part of a group to confront the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Thursday.
Ezzalzouli (20), nicknamed Ez Abde, was already summoned for the first time on the final list of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco, which was held in Cameroon last January, but according to Moroccan media, refused to call because of the intention to play with Spain, who recently gained nationality.
“Before CAN, there was a big controversy, I talked with the player twice, and his version was different from the one that was released.” A French-Bosnian coach said at a press conference in Rabat.
“He has many qualities, and the Moroccan team does not have a player like him, which can change the course of things.” The coach claimed.
The leftmost brother and agent, the author of the incredible start of the season with the Blaugrana team, denied the “rumors” about his decision to play in Red, saying that he “wants to play for his country.”
The list of 26 Atlas Lions players who will play Democratic Republic of the Congo on March 25 and 29 is not colliding with the coach by Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech or Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Halilhodzic said that both players “were on a longer list, but they made a choice. I respect it, and there is no more.”
