After six years, North America will once again host a Dota Major. With a confirmed date of August 4-14, it will be the event that hosts the best teams from around the world, based on their results on Tour 3 of the Dota Pro Circuit. The location chosen was the Arlington Esports Stadium in Texas and the production will be handled by PGL.
Like the Stockholm Major in May, it would have a face-to-face audience and will distribute $500,000 among the competition. In addition, it will be Valve's last event before The International 2022, so teams will look to score as many points as they can to confirm their direct invitation.
“We are fortunate to return to North America with another Major after the Boston edition,” said PGL CEO Silviu Stroie, after the official announcement of the Arlington Major. “Having a tremendous tournament with Dota 2 enthusiasts in the stands after a long time will be great!” , he added. Stroie called the Arlington Esports Stadium the perfect location for an event of this caliber.
Tickets are not yet available, but PGL anticipated that they will publish more details about them and the competition soon. Following their active participation in 2021 — responsible for producing both the Stockholm CS:GO Major and The International 2021 — PGL will seek to sustain and deepen its industry presence with the Antwerp CS:GO Major and the Dota 2 Arlington Major.
