After two draws and four losses at the start of the Argentine Football Professional League Cup, Talleres de Córdoba won the first win of the season by beating Güemes De Santiago del Estero 4-0 to advance to the round of 32 of the Argentine Cup.
The team from Córdoba, who suffered the departure of their coach Guillermo Hoyos last Saturday after the defeat to San Lorenzo, won with authority against the Santiagueño squad with the goals of Federico Girotti (2), the Colombian Diego Valoyes and Matías Esquivel.
After his victory at the Padre Martearena stadium in Salta, Talleres won the passport to the round of 32 of this tenth edition of the Argentine Cup, where he will face Chaco For Ever, who struck the blow on Tuesday by eliminating Arsenal de Sarandí on penalties 5-4.
The goal of the Colombian player meant the partial 2-0 and was a great deal for the technique. The clock marked the 42 minutes of the first half when ExEquidad gave speed to Talleres' attack in a counterattack after a corner kick from the rival. The attacker first took the goalkeeper off the edge of the box by means of a subtle touch to the ball, then left the defender on the floor who sought to delay the shot and when the goalkeeper returned to his position, with the threat of a shot he left him on the ground to send the ball to the back of the net.
The Colombian's last match had been on February 18, 2022 against Unión de Santa Fe. That time, Diego Valoyes had to leave the field in tears after feeling muscular discomfort that forced him to be absent for about a month. Meanwhile his last goal had been in 2021, when he scored the winning goal on December 2 against Godoy Cruz in the Copa Argentina semifinal.
In 87 matches played for the 'T', he scored 15 goals and gave 10 assists. This has allowed him to be part of the process of the Colombian national team under the baton of the vallecaucano coach, Reinaldo Rueda.
The other duel defined in this instance is the one that will face Velez Sarsfield against Independiente Rivadavia from Mendoza, while seven other teams surpassed their premieres in the competition and await rivals: Banfield, Lanús, Colón de Santa Fe, Argentinos Juniors, River Plate, Carlos Casares Agricultural and Boca Juniors.
