Denzel Washington has been a part of the Hollywood industry for decades. His voice and smile led him to perform various roles with outstanding talent, and he always knew how easy it was to move. He was involved in comedy, drama, action, and war. If there was Washington in the movie, it wasn't. Now he has embarked on a new challenge to join the new adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Macbeth. Denzel writes and directs the novel Joel Cohen (Joel Cohen) under the title “The Macbeth Tragedy on Apple TV +.”
Macbeth's central story reflects the ambition of a Scottish lord who was influenced by the three witches. They persuade him to become King of Scotland. This version of Cohen was filmed in black and white.
This is the first time Joel conducts without the Ethan brothers, and they usually work side by side. “Ethan didn't want to make a movie anymore. He seems happy with what he just did. Both of them have an unprepared script on the shelf, but I don't know what Joel would have done without the script.” Composer Carter Burwell has accompanied Coens for many years
Washington played Macbeth, the main character of this play, was nominated for a new Oscar (he was already in honor of 10 people) and will try to add a third statuette to the two already victorious statues. It was named “Best Supporting Actor” (Times of Glory, 1989) and the Second Education Day (2001). School Days) as the leading role.
In this film, she joined the cast members of Francis McDormand (who is also a film director), Berty Cavell, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling, and Brendan Gleeson.
Denzel communicated with Infobae to talk about new candidates and tips to give to new actors.
How important is it to reappear at the Oscars after many nominations?
- I was lucky enough to be nominated for 10 times and now I have been nominated for the best film. I've seen everything and I've seen how this show can evolve. It's simple. Just go and have fun. That's it.
- I am an African American. He spoke about following in the footsteps of the great Sydney Poitier when he was nominated for the tenth time today when he won his second Oscar. Why not be someone who sees Sydney like Sydney?
I've been watching a lot of his movies lately. I've been sick with Covid especially in the last two years, but I don't know if he looks like this person. I don't think so myself. I'm trying to share what I know from my experience. In this film, I have been in contact with Corey (Hawkins) and Alex (Hassell) and consider myself “Young Me” in them.I just share what I know. My role is to share what I have learned and answer questions about it.
One of the great movies was the glory. I won an Oscar. What if I could give advice to a young Denzel who is just starting out in the industry?
- I'm telling you what I really did, that is, I'm learning to play on stage (theater) rather than in a movie. That's where I'm talking to young actors right now. This is where I learn to play on stage. Because cinema is the medium of a director, and theater is an actor, I can't learn from humble appearance.Looking at the list of winners in recent years, almost everyone has experience in theater if they are lucky enough to be one of them.
What are you looking for in your career during this special time? What does it mean that you've decided to play a role?
Now I want to lose 40 pounds. When I see it in Italy, I'm going to shoot Equalizer 3 and visit Naples, Positano and a few other places, so it will be a great challenge (laughs). But there is a saying that “without commitment you will never start, and without permanence it will never end.” Therefore, I am interested in the constant preservation of the mind, body, and spirit for the rest of my life.
How did you configure this new version of Macbeth?
- I have never played Macbeth. It took me a year to meet Joel (Cohen) and get his vision. That's what I had in mind to finish my speech.I need to meet William Shakespeare, and I need to reach his level. We all have done this, so I think that if we approach it with the right humility, determination, and effort, it will be completely filled. When I started reading Shakespeare in college, he was very busy. I became much richer because I didn't like my work. The problem is that I can always do more or see it in a different way.Until now I want to return to a bigger role than any other role I've played.
