The independent video game Core Keeper became one of the most popular games on Steam within a week of the launch of its Early Access. The developer Pugstorm has already received almost 4 thousand positive reviews on the platform and left all its players surprised.
The premise of the game is simple: the protagonists must explore a universe of caverns, where they will find relics, creatures and resources that they must use to build a community that will help them discover the mystery of the “Ancient Core”.
The developers have expressed that they are expecting to finish the first release phase by the end of this year, but most players on Steam agreed that the experience is now ready to be enjoyed.
“It's an extremely well-polished game for just entering the Early Access phase. If you're looking for something to play quietly or enjoy with friends, Core Keeper is already in a great place,” explained one user within Valve's store feedback platform.
Gameplay mechanics include exploring a space in search of resources that must be cultivated, fished, cooked and refined to help the exploration team. In visual terms, the game mixes part of the graphical adventure with the familiar interface of simulation and resource management games such as Terraria and Stardew Valley.
In addition to crossing the different mines and caves on the map, Core Keeper allows you to play online with up to seven other players to survive as a group. In this mode, each participant can specialize in a particular role and maximize the rewards that can be obtained during the narrative.
While the Pugstorm team relieves the opinions of their community, users say that the only points to adjust are related to the variety and frequency of item appearance and the amount of experience gained as you traverse the map.
The Core Keeper indie experience does not yet have an official release date, although Early Access is available at just $200 (ARS).
