Almost a week after its premiere, the protagonists' first reactions to the fourth season of Drive To Survive are already circulating. This time it was the Red Bull Racing driver, Sergio Pérez, who showed his dissatisfaction with the result after one of the best years in the history of Formula 1.

El tapatio mentioned that the Formula 1 documentary series probably “went too far” in the drama exaggeration, especially since the 2021 season already had enough emotions to not have to overdo it in the rivalries that were they built on the screen.

Through an interview with ESPN, Checo Pérez was questioned about his position on the matter and admitted that he could not finish watching it, as he expected much more after the dramatic definition of the championship and his intense struggle throughout the year.

I really thought they had the best season in Formula 1 (to work with) and I feel like they probably missed a bit of history because of the way they presented it. (...) They tried to create too much drama that the season already had... the season had enough drama, you know?” , said the Mexican prior to his debut at the Bahrain GP.

As if this were not enough, Checo Pérez lashed out at Netflix for not having included part of the content he recorded with them, especially because of the extensive time he dedicated to them during the Mexican Grand Prix, when the tapatio, in addition to getting on the podium and going out between shoulders, gathered more than 100 thousand people for a Red Bull show about Paseo de la Reforma.

“Yes, to be honest, I did a lot for them last year. I'm definitely not going to do that much this year. There are a lot of media! So if I can escape them (Netflix) and do less, then I will,” said the tapatio, in a few words that have been interpreted by the fans as a disappointment.

During the fourth season of Drive To Survive, the Mexican only receives minutes of prominence during the last episode, when he was key for Max Verstappen in defining the championship.

Beyond very brief appearances in some other episodes, Perez's work was not included in the series. His victory in Azerbaijan went unnoticed and was not even focused during the Mexican GP party.
