On Wednesday, March 16, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá reported that the second phase of 'Bogota A Cielo Abierto 2.0', a strategy implemented to promote economic revitalization in the capital during the COVID-19 health crisis, would reach Chorro de Quevedo in La Candelaria before April.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Government Felipe Jiménez Ángel, who stated that this decision was included in Decree 070 of the District Administrative Decree of 2022, which provides a free way for the implementation of this initiative that seeks to revitalize public spaces through commercial use of the sector and citizens.
“This initiative aims to promote social inclusion of vulnerable populations while pedestrians and traders sharing public spaces, so that they can systematically develop activities to informal suppliers and street artists and formalize the work of this population,” said the Secretary of the Capital Government.
The official also announced that the Heritage Restoration Team will begin its activities in the town of La Candelaria, which is made up of women and young people living in this sector in the city center. The town is responsible for being the guardian of the heritage after 28 years. The village “will recover Casa del Zipa, the heritage of the entire village that will be dedicated to cultural activities while observing biosecurity measures”.
At the same time, he says that progress is being made in the restoration of the colonial house where the first Casa de la Particación in the sector will operate in the town of Santa Fe, indicating that all contractual and legal proceedings are expected to take place this year. “So soon young people will be able to benefit from this beautiful space for women and men in the region.”
Finally, they confirmed that local youth were being trained through scholarships. Scholarships allow you to associate yourself as a sports instructor in this field after completing your studies, a strategy that seeks to influence the community and contribute to opportunities for young people.
In February 2021, the Minister of Economic Development of Bogotá, Carolina Duran, described in detail the challenges the city will face in order for the 'Bogotá Open Air 2.0' initiative to become a program that lasts in the capital beyond the health crisis caused by covid-19, this Saturday.
At the 'Dispatchando Ando' meeting organized by the District of Education, the Minister pointed out in his speech that it is necessary to design a model that establishes agreements between the public and private sectors in order to create a region with the intention of becoming a permanent project where it is developed independently.
“It is necessary to give 'Bogota a Cielo Abierto' a legal structure that goes beyond emergency measures. So far, we have protected 'Bogotá a Cielo Abierto' and all the pilots carried out with health and economic emergencies and reactivation strategies. Obviously, the city's ownership of this initiative has been very positive and we want to leave it.” Carolina Durán said on that occasion.
