Biden talks with Chinese leaders about the invasion of Ukraine

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden will talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday about economic rivalry between the two countries and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced in a statement on Thursday that it was “part of an ongoing effort to open the line of communication between Washington and Beijing.”

The call was tense 7 hours in Rome on Monday between White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Chinese Foreign Policy Advisor Yang Jiechi

The United States warned that China is spreading Russian false information in order to create an excuse for Russia to attack Ukraine with chemical or biological weapons.A version that was rejected by the Kremlin also appeared. Russia has asked China for economic assistance in response to harsh sanctions imposed by the West.

At a meeting in Rome, Sullivan asked Beijing to be clearer about his relationship with Russia and warned him that any attempt to help China evade sanctions would cost him.
