The Microjusticia Argentina Foundation, an organization that works with people in situations of social vulnerability and offers free legal advice and sponsorship in order to provide them with support and guarantee real access to their fundamental rights and justice, will organize a conference on the right to an identity in the Legal in the next few days.

It is an open seminar that proposes to explore the theoretical and practical aspects that will provide participants with tools to understand the current legislation on the right to identity and how it is closely related to parental responsibility, from different perspectives.

Different exhibitors, including lawyers Maria Laura Lazzara and Julieta Speciali of Advocating Families, the director of RENAPER, Paula Parissi, the director of civil status of the province of Buenos Aires, Mariano Ordoñez and the advocate for children and adolescents of Jujuy, Olga Ivacevich, among others, will share their knowledge of the law and his experience in the exercise of the profession and territorial work. The opening will be moderated by the director of the Gender Observatory in Justice of the Judicial Council of the City of Buenos Aires, Diana Maffía.

The objectives are to obtain legal authorization around the right to an identity, to have a surname and a first name, to know one's origins and to guarantee the rights to effective access to justice, as well as to disseminate good practices among the population and basic institutions and to raise awareness among the population of the implications and obligations related to this right.

“In the twelve years that we have worked territorially in different districts of the country, we have noticed situations that recur and create obstacles in the exercise of the rights of children and adolescents in matters of family and identity,” the organization said in its statement.

The main issues related to the implications of surnames on parental responsibility are food management, registration after birth, adoption, and cases of psychological, symbolic and economic abuse related to the violation of the right to an identity.

“To apply for alimony in court, an accredited parentage is necessarily required (by law). The absence of a surname or the absence of a notification of recognition prevents children and adolescents from fully enjoying the right to food,” says the organization.

In addition, situations such as late filiation do not guarantee that retroactive food is collected, which directly affects the full exercise of rights, generating situations of economic, social, cultural vulnerability, etc.

In this regard, issues related to this moment will also be addressed, such as lack of registration, lack of parental recognition, administrative errors in the preparation of the birth certificate, the order of the surname during registration or false recognition.

Also with regard to good adoption practices and problematic situations that may arise from the development bond, such as the repentance of adopters in full adoption.

Finally, situations of violence that arise from problems related to identity. The economic difficulties that may arise in the face of the full exercise of rights, the different psychological and emotional conditions that may result from the lack of parental recognition and the situations of violence that may arise from administrative examinations of persons who do not have sureties and are not supervised by the competent authorities.

The seminar will take place at Av. Belgrano 2527 CABA, Eva Perón auditorium, ATE Nacional on March 23, 2022 from 8:30am to 6 pm.

Registration will be until 18/03/2022 by e-mail to seminario@microjusticiaargentina.org indicating the first name, last name and identity card. Seats are limited.
