Vargas Lleras makes new decisions with a view to presidential elections

For two weeks now the rumor of the possible candidacy of Germán Vargas Lleras has been sounding to the rhythm of El guerrero with the publication of a major video in prime time.

Although the country is not on embers, politicians are, and tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16, it will be possible to know what the future of the former vice president will be, who summoned the congressmen of Radical Change (both elected and current) to a private lunch at the Tequendama hotel to clear doubts and make a decision.

According to information from Semana, sources close to Vargas Lleras told the magazine “that he will most likely not run for the presidency. And although he has been fulfilling a political agenda between Tuesday and Wednesday, he doesn't feel like taking the stage as a competitor for Casa de Nariño.”

On the agenda of Vargas Lleras, today Tuesday, March 15, the leader of Radical Change had lunch with Dilian Francisca Toro, president of the U Party, thus making an appointment that took place a week ago.

About the meeting, the former vice president posted a photo on Twitter and wrote “Today we started contact with all sectors”.

Hours later, it became known that Vargas Lleras accepted the invitation to drink coffee from the former Minister of the Postconflict, Rafael Pardo, through Twitter.

Finally, Gaviria did not make it to the meeting because, according to Semana, he would have preferred it to be at his home, where almost all the presidential candidates trying to seduce the Liberal Party to gain their support have been seen parading.

It is worth remembering that Vargas Lleras, during election day, said: “We will see what happens tonight and we will make a decision this week. We are going to listen to the opinion of Colombians, hopefully the consultations will also be very legitimate.”

However, tomorrow's meeting is also expected to know what path the party will take, since with the results of the elections, the Char congressmen, who are the majority in Radical Change, will arrive at lunch with the decision to support the presidential candidacy of Federico Gutiérrez, after Alejandro Char himself announced publicly endorsing Federico Gutiérrez.

It is worth remembering that until Friday Radical Change has a deadline to know which candidate will replace Germán Córdoba, who registered as a presidential candidate last Friday in the Registrar, as part of Vargas Lleras's strategy.

After registering as a candidate, Cordoba delivered a cryptic message, slightly insulting to the patience and intelligence of the voters and journalists waiting there. First, he assured that he will await the decision of the Colombians in the interparty and legislative election on Sunday.

“We are going to listen to them and only on that basis will we make a decision on who should be the presidential candidate for Radical Change. Personally, I am convinced that Sunday Radical Change will be one of the winning parties in the elections of the Congress of the Republic. This will make us the party that decides who will be the next president of Colombia,” Córdoba said.

It is worth mentioning that in the morning hours of this morning, March 15, Federico Gutiérrez published a statement on his social networks in which he announced that he will seek a “national dialogue” to defend “democracy and freedoms, so I call on all people and movement to join his proposal and vision of the country.

In the document, the candidate announced that he is looking for meetings and began by naming traditional sectors of politics that are being led by former presidents and politicians who have been in other governments such as: the Liberal Party, led by Cesar Gaviria, the Conservative Party, led by Andrés Pastrana, the Cambio party Radical, led by Germán Vargas Lleras and the Democratic Center, of which it seems that he already has support from part of the movement and is led by Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
