Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal estimated Ukraine's direct losses from Russian aggression to 565 trillion dollars (about 515 billion euros) and called for tightening sanctions against Russia following a meeting with its Polish, Slovenian and Czech counterparts.

In this regard, he called for strengthening sanctions “against the aggressor country”, including the recognition of Russia as a sponsor of terrorism, the closure of ports and the embargo on Russian resources, as well as an international plan of assistance and reconstruction for Ukraine.

During a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of Slovenia Janez Jansa and Czech Republic Petr Fiala, the Ukrainian Prime Minister highlighted in a message on his official Facebook profile that this visit is “testimony to the unquestionable support for Ukraine and Ukrainians.”

“We expect support in terms of financing the reconstruction of Ukraine. The Polish Prime Minister has already said in the presence of the President of Ukraine that every school, every kindergarten, every home of Ukrainians will be restored after the war,” he said, as reported by Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

Shmygal estimated direct losses to Ukraine due to Russian aggression at about 565 billion dollars (515 billion euros), according to Ukrainian television Channel 24. In fact, the prime minister reported the formation of a group in the Government to assess the losses in the economy due to Russian shares.

The Prime Minister also thanked his Polish, Czech and Slovenian counterparts for their support of Ukraine's membership in the European Union, as well as the decision to close the skies to Russian planes over Europe, for their position to close the skies over Ukraine and for the tens of thousands of tons of humanitarian aid, according to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

In addition, he stressed that the Ukrainian government will work to ensure that Russia's funds and property abroad are seized. “We believe that partner countries will also join this ambitious plan,” he added, as reported by the news agency Unian.

For its part, the US Senate passed a resolution on Tuesday calling for the investigation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Armed Forces for possible war crimes in Ukraine.

The resolution does not have the same force as a law, although it serves to support investigations initiated by the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the request of some 40 countries.

The text of the resolution passed by the Senate condemns “war crimes, crimes against humanity and the systematic violation of human rights being committed by the Russian Armed Forces and military commanders, under the direction of President Vladimir Putin.”
