Two people died in the middle of a shooting in Cartago, Valle del Cauca

Authorities are advancing a padlock plan to locate those responsible for the double murder in the important municipality in the north of the department

The inhabitants of the downtown area of Cartago, Valle del Cauca, experienced moments of panic due to a shooting that took place in the municipality during the night of last Tuesday, March 15.

The incident was reported exactly on 14th Street between races 8 and 9. In that place several subjects who were mobilizing in a car with Cali plates and others who were on a motorcycle, clashed with firearms.

During the confrontation, according to local media accounts, at least 15 shots were reported from one side to the other. In the midst of the crossfire, citizens passing through the area had to jump to the ground or run away, as most commercial establishments were closed.

A local media outlet even claimed that motorcyclists passing through the site even had to get off their motorcycles to seek shelter and avoid being hit by bullets.

After the crossing of fire, two of the subjects involved died and one more was injured. The latter managed to get out of the vehicle to ask for help from those passing through the site: “Help me, they shot me,” said the man quoted by some local media.

According to the first reports, the subject managed to make some calls while lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was later transferred to a health care center for medical care.

Authorities arrived at the scene of the shooting to carry out the removal of the bodies. In the preliminary reports, they indicated that one of the fatal victims of the shooting had a judicial record, so a reckoning was not ruled out.

Likewise, a padlock plan was put forward in order to locate the others responsible for the shooting that put several citizens of Cartago, Valle del Cauca at risk.

The community asked the authorities to take action because the facts of insecurity have become part of the landscape in Carthage.

Government delivered motorcycles to strengthen the Cartago Police District

A few weeks ago, the Government of Valle del Cauca announced the delivery of 16 motorcycles to the Cartago Police District, this in order to strengthen the strategic resources of the public forces in that municipality.

During the delivery ceremony, the Secretary of Coexistence and Citizen Security, Camilo Murcia, assured that with the delivery of the motorcycles it was hoped that the insecurity that has plagued that municipality of Valle del Cauca was expected to face.

The idea of the departmental authorities was that the police should have the means to intensify patrolling efforts throughout Cartago and even in neighboring towns such as Alcalá, Obando, Ulloa, Ansermanuevo and El Águila.

This delivery reached the sum of 22 motorcycles that the territorial body managed in recent weeks for the Cartago Police District.
