“Turnip” for “Chaparo”: CJNGN internal dispute over the massacre of San José de Gracia

The Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel (CJNG) agrees with the Federal Government and the Prosecutor's Office of Michoacán to target, that is, those responsible for killing at least 11 people after a funeral in San Jose de Gracia. A group of internal disputes between criminal operators has been identified.

According to records published by the criminal group itself, everything changed when, on February 27, a hitman led by Abel Alcantar Vallejo under the nickname El Viejon, Sierra 8 and/or Torora entered San Jose de Gracio. In order to take revenge against El Pelon Alejandro Garcia, he went to senior CJNG officials and asked for permission to take care of his mother.

That afternoon, up to 12 funeral attendees were slaughtered and no bodies were found. Among them were people unrelated to criminal activities and colleagues from fellow faction members who left their native places to continue illegal business in Zapopan and Colima.

The ninth infantry battalion, the state police, the National Guard, and even helicopters arrived in response to the sightings of the Armed Command. They remained in the municipality until now without an attack on them.

However, on March 14, the Prosecutor's Office of Michoakan provided compensation of up to 600,000 pesos to those who provided data leading to alleged perpetrators in neighboring villages.

In their message, they warned the population and the government that the battle would take place internally. They suggested that the enemies of the area would conduct operations with the enemies of Sinaloa.
