Television producer Juan Osorio came to the defense of his son Emilio Osorio after he became the target of criticism following the premiere of Vicente Fernández's biographical series El último rey, where he plays the son of Charro de Huentitán.

In the Televisa Univision series, which is inspired by the unauthorized biographical book of journalist Olga Wornat, the 19-year-old plays Alejandro Fernández, the youngest son of Charro de Huentitán, who followed in his father's footsteps and has won several awards for his iconic songs.

Faced with this, social media users expressed their dissatisfaction with Emilio Osorio's performance in the role of Potrillo: “If I were Alejandro Fernandez if I sued Televisa because of the horrifying way Emilio Osorio plays him”, “Sorry Emilio Osorio fans but I don't like how he is playing Alejandro Fernández in #ElUltimoRey too young and the characterization hardly resembles him”, “The best series would have been by Alejandro Fernández, because I think they focus more on scenes with Emilio Osorio. That by the way a very bad actor”, were some that netizens broadcast on Twitter.

For his part, Emilio Osorio has been very happy with the project that the television station assigned to his father and although at the moment he has not written anything about the wave of criticism that his work has received, in recent days he left a series of photographs and messages where he could be observed happy with the bioseries and even described it as a work of “pure quality”.

“Hey race, they raffle it. I'm really excited by everything that's coming. I hope they like what is being done, pure #ElUltimoRey quality,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

However, the producer did not keep his mouth shut and went out to defend his son, the product of his marriage to Cuban vedette Niurka Marcos. In an interview with journalist Javier Poza, Juan Osorio denied having influenced the young man to keep the role.

In addition, he mentioned that his son studied the character and practiced the potrillo gestures for a long time, in addition, he pointed out that he had a coach who “put his voice” on him so that he could play the singer better.

He won the role in a casting (...) Emilio has talent, not because he is my son, it was the directors not only I chose him, we have a very demanding coach and he has taken care of the cast, that's how he played,” said Juan Osorio.

Despite the claims of Cuquita Abarca, widow of Charro de Huentitán, and the expectation regarding the alleged suspension order imposed on the television company, the series was released on Monday, March 14 after a strong advertising campaign in the company's various spaces.

Although the family of the late singer had spoken out for a couple of months ago against the project starred by Pablo Montero, and which features performances by Angelica Aragon, Emilio Osorio and José Carlos Ruiz, the story was finally released at 8:30pm by Las Estrellas.

In addition to the Fernández opposition, the issue escalated to legal instances, as a judge had banned the premiere of the serial program, Televisa reported that it had not received any notification from any authority, giving the green light to the transmission of the controversial project.
