On Sunday, March 13, the legislative elections were held and the results showed a significant change in seats, as the Historical Pact and the Conservative Party took the relative majorities of Congress and the House. With this new composition reach the Congress of the Republic, new faces that represent a different alternative to the names already known.
The Historical Pact that achieved a victory not seen before, although it left in its head names that have already been in the legislature such as: Gustavo Bolivar, María José Pizarro, Alexander López Maya, Aida Avella and Roy Barreras, also brought new faces such as that of Susana Boreal that became known in the 2021 national strike through the leadership of more of 400 musicians.
Because his popularity was high due to his great activism, he managed to occupy a position to represent Antioquia society, so, after learning that he will reach the legislature in the coming months and will stay there for 4 years, he has started giving some interviews. Therefore, this March 15, his knowledge about data on the general culture of Colombia was revealed in a video and it did not look very good before the netizens who were surprised by their answers.
One of the ones that generated the most comments and for which it went viral on social networks is because the future congressman does not know exactly how many departments the country has. His lack of knowledge was evident when he replied that Colombia has “38 departments”, since in reality the Latin American country has 32 departments that include 1103 municipalities.
But not everything ended there, because the representative of the Historical Pact showed that despite the position she is going to hold, she has no knowledge of issues such as: constitution reform, motion of censure and who can be censored, how much TransMilenio's passage is worth, nor did she know how many senators or representatives make up the Congress of the Republic, matters that are fundamental to the work of a senator and a representative. Finally Boreal acknowledged that “there are many things I need to learn”.
Let's remember that the leader, according to El Tiempo, began studying pure mathematics at the University of Antioquia, but later she leaned towards music, started with lyrical singing for seven semesters; and moved to orchestra conducting. He was on an exchange for a year in Belgium, where he studied choral and orchestral music conducting. He then returned to Medellin to finish his academic studies with his undergraduate recital.
He also chose the path of art and culture because he believes that “through this society can be converted into a group of sensitive beings and with this people would not use violence to manifest their thoughts”.
So its campaign banner was to promote art and culture from basic training with all that this requires, in addition, it supports the decriminalization of abortion, the strengthening of women's rights (it proposes an action against gender violence, preventing femicide, and improving access to training on rights sexual and reproductive rights of women living in rural areas) and access to education for young people with their respective guarantees.
