FORT MYERS, Florida, USA (Associated Press) - Sony Gray has taken a few more steps than usual to reach his first pre-season training practice with his new team.

Once the veteran arrives right, find out that this is where he wants to be. The newly acquired junior worked for the first time with the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday after passing a medical examination.

The Twins acquired Gray on Sunday in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds, who are breaking down their payroll. At the same time, the twins hinted that they would seek further changes after Grey's merger, which ended a record of 7-9, 155 hits and 4.19 effectiveness throughout 135 1/3 innings in 2021.

“Twins seem to be looking for more cards,” Gray said. “This is the moment I'm in my career and all I really care about is winning. I want to win.”

Gray participated in the second of three swaps the twins made between Saturday and Sunday. Minnesota sent catcher Mitch Garver to the Texas Rangers in exchange for Stop shorts Issia Kenner — Valeva, who was later transferred with third baseman John Donaldson to the New York Yankees to get Dominican catcher Gary Sanchez and Colombian stadiums Geo Urchilla.

But the twins are not over.

Chief Operating Officer Derek Vailey said the club enjoyed greater financial flexibility after the Yankees took over the remaining 50 million of Donaldson's contract. Failey said he hopes to use this money to meet his needs in rotation, bullpen and shortstops. The Twins has expressed an alleged interest in free agent Trevor Story and is in talks with Auckland Athletics.

“I hope we will be in a better position not only in terms of the team, but also in the future plan and the flexibility it creates for the next negotiations,” Faili added.

Gray and his family were on their way to the airport with the aim of traveling to Arizona for spring Reds training on Sunday, when Cincinnati General Manager Nick Crall spoke to him and broke the news. Gray soon realized that he would now have to travel to Florida and returned home to reorganize.

The twins wanted Grey, who was twice elected to the All-Star Game, to settle down after arriving on Tuesday with his family. But the pitcher wanted more activity.

Gray not only took part in photo day and his medical examination, but also joined his colleagues at the stadium to practice the pitcher. He later signed autographs and posed for some photos with fans.
