The former governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, known as El Bronco, was arrested for his alleged involvement in electoral offenses, which is why he was admitted to the Apodaca prison until his legal status was determined.
This triggered the opinions of the defenders and opponents of the Bronco, who published various messages on their social networks around the subject, and even reached the opinions of news programs or columns in various newspapers.
This is the case of the most recent text by journalist Raymundo Riva Palacio in Ejecentral, where he makes extensive efforts to enlist the people who allegedly have betrayed the former governor, as well as the political actors who benefit from it.
Without a doubt, he added that the one who is experiencing his best moment is Samuel García, who filed the original complaint against Congresswoman Mariela Saldivar. The Mexican columnist himself assured that this is an “act of poetic justice on the part of Garcia”.
However, he also assured that this is a victory in which several betrayals were involved. First, he mentioned a political group consisting of Pablo de Hoyos Koloffon, the state electoral crimes prosecutor, as well as local deputy Francisco Cienfuegos and Rodrigo Medina, Bronco's predecessor in the government.
On the other hand, he also mentioned Manuel Vital, one of the funders of Jaime Rodríguez Calderón's campaign; according to Riva Palacio, political sources assured him that this person betrayed him.
Finally, he put on the table the other winner of the legal move, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose confrontation began in the search for the presidency in 2018. In addition, the columnist assured, “sheltered” Samuel Garcia in the gubernatorial elections.
“The President, through third parties, is watching his old political opponents fall,” he considered for Ejecentral, although he warned that Samuel García should not be calm, because “his tail is long.”
In this regard, he assured that “today's glory could be tomorrow's hell” for the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, champion of the Citizen Movement.
Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, El Bronco, was arrested by authorities in Nuevo León and admitted to the Apodaca Social Reintegration Center, where he will remain in pre-trial detention until his legal status is determined. The former governor of Nuevo León was captured by the Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Electoral Crimes, in compliance with an arrest warrant for his probable involvement in events with characteristics of electoral crimes.
The arrest warrant against him was issued at the request of the prosecutor's office by a State Judge of Control and Oral Trial, who determined that he must remain in pretrial detention because of the seriousness of the crimes he allegedly committed.
The public complaint against the former official was filed by Samuel García himself, who went to the appropriate authorities to present evidence on the case, which occurred when the current governor was serving as local senator.
Subsequently, a resolution of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation (TEPJF) issued a resolution in which it confirmed that both Jaime Rodríguez Calderón and its Secretary General of Government, Manuel González, used public resources for the collection of signatures in order to compete in the 2018 presidential elections.
Through the TEPJF investigation, it was possible to determine that 11 agents of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the then local prosecutor's office participated in the collection of signatures in favor of the Bronco, for which reason they were disqualified from their posts and prosecuted for electoral crimes. Likewise, the position of public servants was withdrawn from them, as well as the certificates that endorsed it in the National Registry of Public Security Personnel.
After taking action against the agents, the Court detected irregular movements and simulated operations by the Undersecretary of Tax Administration of Nuevo León, which were linked to the bank accounts of two close Bronco employees, which were frozen by the tax authorities.
