On Tuesday, March 15, the Colombian Ministry of the Environment presented the mobile application “Respira 2030", a digital tool intended to inform the development of conservation, restoration and environmental education in the country that citizens can download through a virtual platform.
Born as part of a global strategy to plant 1 billion trees by 2030 to respond to the effects of climate change by restoring and protecting natural ecosystems, the initiative is divided into three parts: sowing, informing and learning information about Savia and the latest environmental news.
“Through this application, any citizen can report which trees, trees, trees they plant anywhere in Colombia, when and what species they use. You can also learn content and interactions that help show citizens environmental and educational issues, easy-to-access applications and, of course, where trees provide air throughout the country,” said Adriana, head of forest and ecosystem services for Portfolio.Santana.
In the “Sowing” section, citizens have access to local autonomous enterprises (CARs) and priority areas by territorial authorities, such as water sources, hydrographic supply areas, national and regional protected areas, forest reserves, productive transition zones and collective areas. Territorial and ethnic communities that can contribute to the national government's goal of planting 180 million trees by the end of the year by planting native species.
There is also a childcare option that allows you to consult sites where you can buy plants and trees, which will be linked to the Colombian Child Care Network application created by Minambiente in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Colombian Institute of Agricultural Research (ICA). The Humboldt Institute, which allows the registration of nurseries in the country, will have a space to consult the general figures of trees declared on the national territory.
“Now, together with all Colombians, we are going to be able to build an environmental conservation network and achieve together what we started. A million hectares have been restored! Conservation of one million hectares and zero deforestation by 2030! As a team, we can do it,” said Environment Minister Carlos Eduardo Correa.
Likewise, “Respira 2030" identifies people or companies who wish to report seedlings as guests and provides seeding reports in locations that do not have an internet connection via offline mode. First, a report is created that identifies the region, then the map is downloaded offline and the information is automatically loaded when connected to the network.
On the other hand, the application has an “Informate” space where citizens can learn about the latest news related to the country's environment, and “Learn” where they can access information about the National School of Environmental Education Savia and its three strategies: Ciudadanos, Sabia Crea This Transforma and Savia Terra, a program to create education and awareness campaigns on environmental sustainability.
“In the space of sown trees, the general numbers of trees reported on the Minambiente counter are divided by department, by ally and by year. To date, 116,704,419 have been planted and the areas where most crops have been planted are Antioquia, 27 million, Sucre (1.11 million), Valle del Cauca (10.6 million), Cordoba (869 million), Bolivar (687 million). concluded the Ministry of the Environment.
