
Starting this Wednesday, the Colombian capital will have a new religious icon on the hill of Monserrate, it is one of the guides for pilgrims who make the famous Camino de Santiago de Compostela in the Galicia region in northeastern Spain.
According to the Colombian Embassy in the European country, at 10 am the installation of this symbol will take place, which is known as Jacobeo 'El Mojón', and which is a solid piece of granite similar to those distributed along the route that is mostly made by Catholic believers in the aforementioned community spanish.
The installation of the religious icon will be attended by the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana.
The Jacobeo symbol will also be blessed by Father Jesús Alberto Pinzón Calderón and representatives of the curia, such as the District Institute of Tourism, will also be present.
This event is being held on the occasion of the official visit being made in Colombia by a delegation of 40 businessmen from Galicia, accompanied and led by Francisco Conde López, second vice-president and economic advisor of the Xunta of that region of the European country.
The Colombian embassy indicated that the Galicians have been in the country since Tuesday and will return to their territory next Thursday, March 17. In fact, the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, met with them on Tuesday at the Casa de Nariño during a reception lunch.
“Precisely, this commission arose from the invitation made by the first Colombian president to the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in September 2021, when he made his official visit to Spain,” they reported at the diplomatic representation.
During this time in Colombia, visitors are expected to meet with delegates from the Ministries of Defense and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to work on issues related to the development of the naval, aeronautical and ICT industries that are based on artificial intelligence and strategy. digital, in which this Spanish community stands out on the world stage.
The Galicia-Colombia Business Forum was also scheduled, where the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce participated and in which the Galicians promoted their economic attractions, and they in turn learned about the advantages of having Colombia as a trading partner and investment destination.
The delegation will close its visit to the country in the department of Antioquia where an event was scheduled in which the Declaration of Intent for the Twinning between that Colombian territory and the aforementioned Spanish community will be signed. Governor Aníbal Gaviria and Galician leader Francisco Conde López will lead this event.
But there will also be a business forum on ICT organized by ProColombia and Ruta N. Finally, they will visit the headquarters of the Galician company Valver in La Estrella (Antioquia).
According to the information published on the Galician government website, the possibility of achieving collaboration in the naval and aerospace sectors is being analyzed, following the meeting held by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Gustavo Niño Furnieles, with Francisco Conde.
