At least two people were injured early Wednesday morning after a bombardment by Russian troops that damaged two residential buildings in the Shevchenkovsky district of Ukraine's capital, Kiev.

At 0616 hours local time, a 12-storey residential building collapsed in Shevchenko district, as reported by the General Directorate of the Kiev State Emergency Service on Facebook.

Eight emergency teams and 35 rescuers are working in the area. So far they have rescued 37 people who were in the buildings.

The Rescue Services have moved to the scene and found that, as a result of shell fragments that hit a residential building, the neighboring nine-story building was also partially damaged.

As a result of the attacks a building collapsed in Kiev leaving nearly 40 people rescued and two injured.

Emergency Services evacuated residents from homes and put out individual fires that have occurred after the bombing.

At 7.45 a.m. (local time), the fire was controlled on several balconies of the twelve-storey residential building.

Meanwhile, several Russian ships bombed the Ukrainian coast during the early morning in the village of Tuzly in the Odessa region, considered the jewel of the Black Sea.

According to the adviser to the Minister of the Interior, Anton Gerashchenko, Russian invaders from the ships have carried out rocket and artillery bombardments on the Ukrainian coast.

“They fired a lot of ammunition from a long distance. They wanted to test the Coastal Defense system. They did not achieve any results,” Gerashchenko reported on Facebook.

Earlier Ukrainian media reported that the landing ships of the Naval Forces of the Russian Federation were approaching the coast of Odessa. At least 14 Russian ships were heading towards Ukrainian territory.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, assured earlier this Wednesday that 28,893 civilians have been rescued through humanitarian corridors in various combat areas in the country.

“Over the past 24 hours, 28,893 Ukrainians were rescued from combat areas in the provinces of Sumy, Kharkov, Donetsk and 20,000 of them were able to leave Mariupol,” said the president in his daily speech collected by the Ukrainian press.

Regarding the humanitarian corridors enabled, he said he hopes that this Wednesday more citizens can be evacuated from the Izium and Kharkiv regions. “The Ukrainian humanitarian convoy continues to be constantly blocked by Russian soldiers on its way to the city,” he lamented.

The Ukrainian president asked the population for “patience”. “It's difficult, but important, because every war ends in an agreement. The meetings continue. I am told that the positions in the negotiations sound more realistic. However, there is still time for them to be adjusted to the interests of Ukraine,” Zelensky stressed.
