Residents of the affected areas are being treated at medical centers after many people were injured as a result of the collapse. According to information provided by the Ministry of Defense, another 8 people were unharmed. It is estimated that the number of buried houses is about 15.

La Libertad Regional Minister @@ Gavidia said: “We are stepping up our rescue efforts. Eight people have been safely rescued. We have an injured person who will be treated at the medical center and evacuated tomorrow.”

Gavidia said a rescue team of 40 people, including firefighters, miners and police, had been deployed. At night, the team works to search for missing citizens on land that covers several houses. In order to save the rest of the population, 90% of people living in areas near mountainous areas were evacuated. This is due to possible landslides elsewhere.

The defense minister confirmed that the houses were built in the valley and that they were “time bombs”. He explained that due to large-scale mining activities, a large proportion of the population were immigrants.

President Castillo confirmed his presence in the disaster area through his Twitter account. “After sending a message to the Peruvian people in Congress, we will travel to the province of Pataz to inspect the areas affected by the accident that happened this morning on the spot. #GobiernoDelPueblo will appear when the public needs it most.” He wrote it.
