Fall of Pataz: Chilean government expresses solidarity with Peru after an avalanche

So far, between 10 and 12 people have been reported missing, and 8 have been rescued.

“At the Emergency Landslide Conference held in Retamas, Parcoy District, Pataz Province, the presence of rescuers from the Army, Indeci, Police and Firefighters is guaranteed in the region.” He said.

They also called on public and private institutions to help victims in the area with maximum effort. “We require public and private agencies to make every effort to attend and rescue those affected; we will monitor the measures taken and humanitarian aid will reach out to the victims.” The ombudsman office continued.

The ESSALUD brigade will take care of those affected

Alegre Fonseca, the new president bof the Health Social Security (Essalud), today fired the health brigade of a Peruvian hospital to attend to those affected by the emergency that occurred in Pataz.

He stated that the response team consists of 20 people, including doctors, nurses, medical technicians and nursing technicians, and will provide free medical services to insured and uninsured populations affected by landslides.

“In collaboration with Minsa, we are joining forces to provide appropriate care to those affected by the emergency in Retamas. This is a health brigade in a Peruvian hospital that will stay for a week and is carrying the necessary medications.” The head of social security reported.

In the health brigade, the presence of trauma and dermatologists draws attention to possible injuries, fractures and skin problems caused by the collapse of part of the hill.

Essalud Hospital Peru is a special emergency agency that travels through the most remote areas of our country to provide professional, free and quality medical care to insured and uninsured residents.

“We are sending this medical brigade to Pataz to help the brothers affected by the landslide. We have specialists in the treatment of emergencies and natural disasters.” The official said.
