David Ospina, who is not assured of his continuity at Napoli the following season, continues to demonstrate why he is experiencing one of the best moments of his sports career. At the age of 33 he is in the top 10 of the best goalkeepers in the five major European leagues.
The Colombian stands out in ninth position on the list of least beaten hurdles in the old continent made by Transfermarkt, a portal specializing in transfers, and becomes an attraction for calibre clubs in the face of the summer transfer market.
So far in the 2021/22 campaign, he has released his portico in zeros on 11 occasions, out of the 27 times in which he has guarded it for Serie A, Coppa Italia and Europa League. Meanwhile, in the country where he plays, he is the one with the best performance.
It is largely thanks to their saves that the azzurro team marches in second place for Calcio, three points behind AC Milan, and dreams of their third Scudetto. The last one was obtained in mid-1990, the year in which Diego Armando Maradona was present.
Although the list does not include the undefeated hurdles with the Colombia national team, Ospina was also decisive in the qualifying commitments, especially in the last October and November. Those of the most recent match against Brazil, represented praise from the sports press.
The good moment of the cancerbero awakens hope for the remaining two qualifying matches, against Bolivia and Venezuela, in which Colombia will seek a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup
Below is the list:
1. Alex Remiro - Real Sociedad (15 hurdles undefeated, that is 60.0%)
2. Alisson Becker - Liverpool (15 - 57.7 %)
3. Ederson Moraes - Manchester City (15 - 55.6 %)
4. Yassine Bounou - Seville (12 - 52.2%)
5. Aaron Ramsdale - Arsenal (12 - 52.2 %)
6. Geronimo Rulli - Villarreal (12 -48.0%)
7. Edward Mendy - Chelsea (11 - 45.8%)
8. Walter Benitez- OGC Nice (12 - 44.4%)
9. David Ospina- Naples (11 - 44.0%)
10. Mike Maignan - AC Milan (10 - 43.5%).
Although Ospina has dressed as a superhero in more than one match with Napoli, the leadership would be considering selling him due to his age. For some time, even before Luciano Spalletti arrived as DT, the goal was to boost the career of Alex Meret (24 years old), one of the goalkeepers of the Italian national team.
The specialist media also added: “There is no need to have two high-profile goalkeepers on the team at the same time and certainly the salary of a second will never be that high. The cut, therefore, would be consistent with the wage reduction policy that the president wants to implement to make costs more sustainable.”
