The Chilean Ministry of Relations regretted the tragedy caused by the landslide that buried dozens of homes in the province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region.
Through his social networks, he expressed his solidarity with the Peruvian people for these events.
“From the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs we deeply regret the tragedy that occurred due to the landslide that buried dozens of homes in the province of Pataz, La Libertad. Our solidarity is with the Peruvian people,” he says in his Twitter message.
This morning there was a landslide, resulting from heavy rains, on one part, of La Esperanza hill, which fell on the Retamas settlement center, located in the district of Parcoy (La Libertad).
The first reports speak of missing persons, including three minors, in addition to between 60 and 80 homes that would have ended up buried by the landslide.
During his message to the Congress of the Republic, the head of State expressed his solidarity with the families affected.
EIGHT PEOPLE RESCUED
Defense Minister José Gavidia took stock of the rescue actions following a landslide in the province of Pataz, La Libertad region, and reported that eight people were rescued unharmed.
Gavidia stressed that approximately 15 people have been declared missing, which is why rescue efforts are intensified in the area.
“We are intensifying the rescue efforts and eight people have already been rescued unharmed and we have one injured person who is being treated at the medical center and will probably be evacuated tomorrow,” he told the press from the La Libertad region.
The Minister of Defense emphasized that a rescue team of 40 people is being worked on, including firefighters, mine personnel and rescue police, who are already in the disaster area.
“We are working in two groups and we are going to be there all night, we have been preparing the struts to continue moving forward and progress in clearing debris,” stressed the head of the Defence portfolio.
He added that, after this natural disaster, 15 houses have been buried, which is why the population is being evicted from the other neighboring houses that are in danger, as there are likely to be new landslides.
HELP ARRIVES
The new president of the Social Security of Health (EsSalud), Alegre Fonseca, today dismissed the health brigade of the Peru Hospital, which will treat those affected by the emergency that occurred in the Retamas settlement center in the Parcoy district, Liberteña province of Pataz, where there was a landslide that buried dozens of homes.
He specified that the response team is made up of 20 people, including doctors, nurses, medical technologists and nursing technicians, who will provide free health care to the insured and uninsured population affected by the landslide.
“In coordination with Minsa, we are joining forces to provide adequate care to people affected by the emergency in Retamas. This is a health brigade from the Peru Hospital that will stay for a week and that is carrying the necessary medications,” the head of Social Security reported.
In the health brigade, the presence of specialists in traumatology and dermatology stands out to attend to possible injuries, fractures and skin problems caused by the collapse of part of the hill.
