Last World Series champions Atlanta Braves signed the biggest deal with starter Matt Olsen on Tuesday, after the major leagues and player leagues ended last week's suspension for 99 days.

Braves and Olson agreed to sign a $168 million contract over 8 years. Orson arrived in Atlanta last week through a trade for the Oakland Athletics team.

At least until 2029, the agreement reached with the 27-year-old hunk had to do with the club. The agreement also includes $20 million in options for 2030.

After failing to reach a deal with outstanding first baseman Freddy Freeman, the Braves were in charge of meeting the greatest needs, who had been the team's stronghold for more than a decade. Since 1995, he has made important contributions to Atlanta, which won its inaugural World Series title last year.

Last year, Orson participated in a brilliant campaign, with 39 home runs and 111 RBI averaging 0.271. It will raise $15 million this year, $21 million in 2023, and $22 million for each of the next six events.

This is the tenth contract of at least $100 million signed since the last World Series, and the first since the suspension ended.

In addition, it was the juiciest contract in the history of the Braves, leaving behind $135 million in the 8 years that Freeman signed since the 2013 season.
