In a new attempt to generate consensus between the Executive and the Legislative, President Pedro Castillo appeared before the Plenary Congress to deliver a message that, although it did not receive much applause, was understood by some members of the opposition as a desire to build bridges. However, the subsequent statements by Aníbal Torres generated discomfort among some congressmen.

There have been many announcements by the president, but there was a lack of an announcement that he decided not to make at the last minute,” Premier Torres said from the courtyard of the Government Palace. “He told me: 'Doctor, we are making one last attempt at concertation in Congress to correct this political instability that exists, it is necessary and we may be able to reach agreements to face the great problems that the country has. ' That is why he did not make the announcement of the advance of general elections. That's the truth, he added.

The statements were not to the liking of the first vice-president of the Congress of the Republic, Lady Camones. From his Twitter account, he criticized what Aníbal Torres said. “In his style, which is absolutely irresponsible and confrontational, what Prime Minister Aníbal Torres said after the message does not help the Executive at all , and will not help to achieve consensus. Opportunities are given by correcting mistakes, Mr. Prime Minister. #ElPerúMereceMás”, read in his publication.

Hours earlier, Camones also published a harsh criticism of the president's message, but stating that Congress has always shown a willingness to work together with the Executive. “Today we no longer need any more promises; concrete action is what is required in favor of all Peruvians,” he said and later described the speech as one that is distant from reality. “Peru deserves more”, was also part of the aforementioned publication.

COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP

Confrontations between Congress and Pedro Castillo's government have existed since the first day of his term of office and now, after almost eight months in power, he is at his peak as he is about to debate a vacancy against the president.

Today we took a first step towards restoring peace of mind to the country. Today we approved the #Vacancia Motion against Castillo and its #GobiernoDeCorrupción. The occupant of Palacio will have to appear before Congress and answer for the obvious acts of corruption caused by his misrule,” said Congresswoman Chirinos following the approval of the motion.

However, there are voices within Congress, even not part of the ruling party, who showed their rejection of the vacancy attempt, as Congresswoman Susel Paredes, “The constitutional moments are different, the current debate of a vacancy, cannot be compared with the consummate usurpation of a presidency that, in a few days, he dyed the banners of democracy with young blood. Inti and Bryan don't deserve it. #InhabilitaciónAMerino,” he wrote on Twitter.

During these almost eight months, Pedro Castillo has been the center of different questions that have led to the rejection of the opposition and part of the population. The appointment of questioned persons as ministers, their contradictions in tax statements, the existence of an alleged Cabinet in the shadows, their clandestine visits to a house in Breña, their silence in the face of corruption cases involving people close to him, the revelations of Karelim López, among others appear such as the reasons for which a new vacancy motion was filed against it.
