On March 21, the inauguration of a flagship work of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) will take place: the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), in the municipality of Zumpango, State of Mexico. AIFA will be part of a regional airport complex that complements Mexico City International Airport (AICM) and Toluca's Adolfo López Mateos International Airport (AIT).

For this reason, López Obrador announced that next Sunday, March 20, he will spend the night at the hotel located nearby and the next day he will preside, as every morning, at the morning conference, which this time will be held at the Military Air Base 1 in Santa Lucia. Subsequently, the opening ceremony led by the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) will take place:

In order not to hinder the electoral ban phase in the process of revocation of the mandate and to prevent the electoral authorities from sanctioning it, the president assured who will not make any speech. However, he said that “there will be guests” and that the press will be invited to the ceremony.

He also said that he will meet with the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo Masa, in order to address the issue of the works that will be carried out to “get to AIFA without delay”.

During the morning conference, the president presumed that the new Felipe Ángeles Airport is at the height of the best in the world and celebrated that this Sunday, March 13, was allowed income for the population to account for the new facilities through an activity coordinated by Sedena.

Regarding the infrastructure works to connect Mexico City with AIFA, he said that the connection of the suburban train that will arrive from the airport to the Buena Vista station in the center of the capital of the Republic is being considered. Likewise, the expansion of eight lanes of the Mexico-Pachuca highway and the construction of distributors within the vicinity of the airport are planned, which, he said, will be completed in six days.

This weekend López Obrador, has an agenda that includes the “morning” conference in Minatitlán next Friday, where he will also commemorate the oil expropriation. On Saturday, he will travel to Oaxaca to review the works of the Isthmus train and the progress in highway infrastructure in the state.
