WASHINGTON (AP) — Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, tested positive for COVID-19, the White House reported Tuesday. Harris tested negative for the diagnostic tests, but will cut her schedule as a result of her husband's diagnosis.

“As a precaution,” Harris will not participate in the Equal Pay Day event he had scheduled Tuesday afternoon at the White House that President Joe Biden would also attend, Harris spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said.

“The vice president tested negative for COVID-19 today and will continue to undergo diagnostic tests,” she stressed.

Biden and Harris appeared together Tuesday afternoon and lived with legislators during an event to commemorate the signing of their $1.5 trillion government funding measure.

Before Emhoff's diagnosis was released, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reported that Biden had tested negative for COVID-19 on Sunday.
