The United Kingdom of Great Britain today confirmed the appointment of Alison Mary Blake as the new governor of the Falkland Islands, replacing Nigel Phillips.
In a brief statement, the British government reported: “Alison Blake has been appointed Governor of the Falkland Islands and Her Majesty's Commissioner for the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in succession to Nigel Phillips. Blake will take office during July 2022 ″.
According to the Foreign Affairs Overseas Territories office, Blake takes office after two years as ambassador in Kabul, Afghanistan; another two in Dhaka as the British High Commissioner, and other diplomatic functions in the service of Queen Elizabeth II.
