Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was happy after qualifying for the Champions League quarterfinals, highlighting his team's “collective work” against Manchester United.
“It was a general effort, I want to highlight the collective work, the team knew what it had to do,” Simeone said after the meeting.
“They are a team with a lot of individualities, very good but very messy to generate good pressure at the start and we tried to score good passes because we knew we could play with those spaces,” Simeone explained.
“The team did it, it suffered what has to be suffered and once again we are among the top eight in Europe and that is extraordinary,” said Simeone.
