Guardar

This Tuesday, Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) announced that next weekend there will be no drinking water in the north of the Aburrá Valley. According to the company, this interruption in the aqueduct service is due to a series of technical work at the Manantiales Water Treatment Plant and the network of this supply system.

The municipalities that will be affected by the water cut, according to EPM, are: Girardota, Copacabana, Bello and part of northern Medellín.

The interruption of the aqueduct will begin on the night of Friday, March 18 and will last until Monday, March 21. In total there will be 329,384 customers without the aqueduct service (318,598 residential and 10,786 non-residential), approximately 980 thousand people.

Citizens will receive the liquid through tank trucks

With the announcement of water cuts, EPM clarified that several tank trucks will be arranged to bring drinking water to the homes of municipalities affected by this interruption in service.

The attention to the community during the next holiday holiday will be coordinated from the Unified Command Post (PMU) installed for this eventuality.

The residential sector will be served by 45 tanker routes and corporate customers with nine tank truck routes. In addition, 30 fixed tanks will be installed at strategic points in the municipalities of Bello, Girardota and Copacabana, with the capacity to deliver 2,000 to 5,000 liters of drinking water each.

For people with restricted mobility, as well as for the commercial sector, EPM will distribute 2,000 five-liter bags of drinking water to those previously identified sites.
