The spokesman for the Popular Renewal Bank and promoter of the vacancy motion against President Pedro Castillo, Jorge Montoya, stressed that this appeal has been approved with 76 votes in favor, compared to 41 against and one abstention.

It was a success for us to have that many votes. Now comes the following: the date of presentation [of the president or his lawyer],” said Montoya Manrique in dialogue with the press from outside the Parliament.

The parliamentarian regretted that it was agreed to set as the date for the debate and vote on the vacancy motion on Monday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. In his opinion, extending two weeks generates more “uncertainty” among citizens.

The vast majority of legislators voted for that date and I don't understand, everyone is free to give their opinion as they like, but the more time passes, the more uncertainty it creates. The best thing would have been to solve everything this week,” he said.

On the other hand, when asked about Pedro Castillo's presentation to the Congress Plenary on Tuesday, Montoya considered that his speech does not generate “any expectations” and that he would seek to “cool” the impeachment process brought against him.

As things have been going on, I don't see any positive expectations of what I'm going to talk about. Hopefully it will be positive, but, as things have happened, it seems to me that it will give us a not pleasant surprise,” he said.

His message to Congress he wants to give is to cool the vacancy and interfere with the process. He definitely has that goal, otherwise he wouldn't,” he added.

OTHER PRONOUNCEMENT

SIGRID BAZÁN - CONGRESSMAN OF JUNTOS FOR PERU

In order not to recognize the election results they shouted fraud, today they shout and approve to admit a vacant motion seven months after starting a new government. Deepening the crisis and not letting the Prosecutor's Office do its job is revanchism, not political seriousness.”

ISABEL CORTEZ - CONGRESSMAN OF JUNTOS FOR PERU

“We have said it again and again: if they vacate the president, we all leave. Like when the usurper Merino took the presidency, they believed that we would do nothing. They saw us on the streets and they'll see us again. The popular vote is respected. If you want the presidency, you will win elections!”

ALEX FLORES - CONGRESSMAN OF PERU LIBRE

“Coup in progress, although they do not have reason or legitimacy. The ease with which the congressmen of the so-called center-right change their position is surprising: APP, AP, yesterday they voted to give the cabinet confidence and today they vote for vacancy, it is pure opportunism”

RUTH LUQUE - CONGRESSMAN OF JUNTOS FOR PERU

“As @bancadaJP we voted against a motion that admits vacancy due to permanent moral incapacity. Let investigations continue with autonomy. We demand Com. Constitution debates PL 428 presented by @EdgardReymundo that proposes to improve scopes. PL is paralyzed since 7 October”

PATRICIA CHIRINOS - CONGRESSMAN OF AVANZA PAIS

“Today we took a first step towards restoring peace of mind to the country. Today we approved the #Vacancia Motion against Castillo and its #GobiernoDeCorrupción. The occupier of Palacio will have to appear before Congress and answer for the obvious acts of corruption caused by his misrule”

ARTURO ALEGRÍA - POPULAR FORCE CONGRESSMAN

“Motion for vacancy admitted. We Peruvians deserve President Pedro Castillo to respond to all the questions of his government. Let's hope you're the one to come and answer and don't send a lawyer.”

NORMA YARROW - CONGRESSMAN OF AVANZA PAIS

“Seventy-six congressmen voted in favor of the vacancy motion. good!!! Pedro Castillo will have to come to Congress and explain so many questions to his management. We hope so. #VACANCIA
