“I wanted to show that I was here,” says Griezmann

The French striker of Atlético de Madrid, Antoine Griezmann, said on Tuesday that he “really wanted to show that he was here” after assisting the winning goal against Manchester United 1-0.

“Today I wanted to show that I was here to help the team and both in defense and attack I played a very good match and so did the others,” Griezmann told the Movistar+ platform.

The French striker, recently returned from a long injury, assisted for the goal of Renan Lodi, who put Atlético into the Champions League quarterfinals.

“We did a lot of work defensively and Jan (Oblak) had two or three that stopped very well. It's the way to go,” added the French striker.

“Atleti saw a very strong, very solid, compact Atleti, eager to show that we can play these matches and very happy to be here,” concluded Griezmann.
