Florinda Meza, widow of comedian Chespirito, has been involved in a legal struggle to obtain the biographical rights of Roberto Gómez Bolaños.
After the death of the famous creator of characters like El Chavo del Ocho, his son decided in 2020 to announce that all his father's programs would stop be transmitted.
“Although sad about the decision, my family and I hope that Chespirito will soon be on the screens of the world. We will continue to insist, and I am sure we will succeed,” said Roberto Gómez Fernández at the time.
This prompted Florinda Meza, better known as Doña Florinda to prepare herself to do what was necessary to bring programs like El Red Grasshopper or El Chavo del 8. Therefore, on this occasion, the actress surprised by being sad on social networks that she has not yet achieved her goal.
“My heart in Chapulín is sad, because the Chespirito program is not seen on the screens of a world so in need of laughter and joy,” he wrote from his Twitter account. Florinda also shared an image of Bolaños disguised as Chespirito while he cries.
The responses from netizens were not long in coming and some netizens blamed the artist for the fact that the Mexican comedian's programs could not be broadcast.
“Towards the southern hemisphere, the news is that you are the one who forbids watching your programs on TV since you own the rights after your death”, “Well, don't charge so much royalties, greetings,” users wrote.
Faced with this, Florinda Meza stressed that the situation was not her fault, because she had always done everything possible to make the content would be available again.
“If it were up to me, the show would never have left the screens. That is why I am now in the middle of the legal fight to ensure that the will of my Rober is respected and for the program to return to the screens,” he said.
It should be remembered that the dispute over royalties, marketing rights and artistic creation of Roberto Gómez Bolaños Chespirito's work has been a constant almost since the endearing comedian and writer died in 2014.
And the fact is that the playwright's legacy includes the works with which he has impacted Mexico and Latin American countries for generations, where his famous characters have already been adopted by the public and are part of the collective imagination.
According to the information that has been made public, Roberto Gómez Fernández, Chespirito's son, would not have been able to reach an agreement with Televisa and that would have been one of the reasons why the series stopped broadcasting in various countries.
Among the most recent news about the case, Gustavo Adolfo Infante said in mid-2021, that Meza was considered by the deceased as a “curator” of her work, so all the projects that her children carry out must count on the arrival of the actress.
“The will made in secret by Don Roberto Gómez Bolaños is a true love letter to his five children, and to his widow. She especially named her Curator of her hereditary mass (...) she is responsible for the proper use of Chespirito's literary content, this involves all the characters and all the librettos,” Infante wrote for TVyNovelas.
