Between the night of Sunday, March 13 and the early hours of Monday, 14, there were 38 armed attacks and riots in Nuevo Laredo in retaliation for the capture of Juan Gerardo Treviño Chavez, El Huevo, leader of the Northeast Cartel (CDN): twenty against military bases, six against the military housing unit and 13 blocks in different parts of the city.
Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection (SSCPC); Luis Cresencio Sandoval, Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA); and Ricardo Mejía, undersecretary of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection; led a press conference detailing the work that has been carried out since the capture del Huevo until his transfer to Mexico City. “We have no injuries or deaths,” confirmed the head of the Mexican Army.
Authorities explained that it was 16 minutes in total from the moment of arrest until El Huevo was taken to the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and then transferred to Mexico City to the premises of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and placed at the disposal of a Public Prosecutor's Office Federal.
