Coronavirus in Argentina: 38 deaths and 5,076 confirmed infections in the last 24 hours

From this data, the cumulative total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is 8,981,155, with a total of 127,295 deaths.

The Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 that 38 deaths from coronavirus and 5,076 new infections were recorded in the past 24 hours. With this data, the cumulative total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic was 8,981,155, and the total number of deaths totaled 127,295.

In these last days, 50,201 tests were carried out, so the positive rate recorded is 10.11%, which is encouraging, since this percentage is close to the 10% recommended for WHO to consider pandemic control.

Currently, there are 66,071 active cases nationwide. These are people who have been diagnosed with the disease and have not yet been discharged into the national system. Meanwhile, the total number of cases reached 8,981,155. On the other hand, of the total number of deaths reported today, 22 were men and 16 were women. The city had the highest number of deaths, with 11 deaths out of 38 in total.

According to the epidemiological part, there are currently 761 COVID-19 patients admitted to intensive care in Argentina. The share of beds at the national level is 38.7%, and in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) it is 40.1%.

Of the 5,076 infections reported this afternoon, 2,566 are from the province of Buenos Aires, 513 are from CABA, 43 are from Catamarca, 55 in Chaco, 112 in Chubut, 42 in Corrientes, 392 in Cordoba, 101 in Entre Rios, 47 in Formosa, 5 Jujuy, 87 in La Rioja, 107 from Mendoza, 327 from Misiones, 112 Neuquen, 111 Rio Negro, 31 Salta, 18 in San Juan, 14 in San Luis Dog, 37 in Santa Cruz, 195 in Santa Fe, 3 in Santiago del Estero, 3 in Tierra del Fuego and 154 in Tucuman.

In the midst of a sharp and continuous decline in cases across the country, yesterday the province of Tierra del Fuego reduced the infection of the new coronavirus to less than half in a week. Currently, there are 32 active cases left in the jurisdiction.

According to an official report from the State Department of Health, 14 new cases were diagnosed from February 27 to March 5, compared to 40 cases in the previous week, between February 6 and 12. As a result, the number of infections decreased by a sixth from 239 to 40 from February 20 to 26 last week.

The survey stated that last week there was a single hospitalization for the coronavirus in the intensive care unit (ITU) of the Rio Grande Desi Regional Hospital. On the other hand, there are no internships in the general ward of the two cities or intensive care in the city of Ushuaia.

Meanwhile, since the pandemic began, a total of 545 people died from the virus, with two deaths.

Yesterday, Monday, March 14, the positive rate recorded was 12.38%, which is close to 10% recommended by WHO (EFE/Juan Ignacio Roncoroni).

The report states that in the “10th Epidemiological Week of 2022,” 8 cases of infection were found in Ushuayashi, 6 infections were found in Rio Grande City and not found in the municipality of Tolhuin. This is a total of 44,969 cases in the jurisdiction since March 2020, of which 44,392 have been discharged and 32 remain active, most of which are the result of contracting the disease through “community transmission or close contact”.

In connection with the national immunization plan, Puegino Health Department explained that they have received 394,493 doses of vaccines so far, and 358,151 of them have been applied. A total of 156,962 people received the first dose and 144,212 completed the schedule with the second application.In addition, according to data from the public vaccination monitor, 8,595 additional doses, 256 disposable vaccines and 48,126 booster doses were applied.

In a statement to local media, Health Minister Judith Do Giglio told local media that “not only the demand for wiping people has decreased, but also the virus cycle, that is, the number of sick people.”

Meanwhile, both nationally and since the vaccination campaign began, Argentina has received more than 122 million COVID-19 vaccinations. Of these, 102,683,890 were sent to the provinces and 5,083,000 were donated to other countries. According to the latest official data, the total number of vaccinations applied until the last update was 95,170,353, of which 40,513,389 were equivalent to the first dose, 36,702,446 for the second dose, 3,038,520 were added, and another 14,915,998 were booster doses.

Recently, the Ministry of Health approved the application of the Moderna vaccine in children between 6 and 11 years of age, with the addition of Sinopharm and Pfizer among those who have guarantees that it will be applied in that age group.

In a statement, the portfolio led by Carla Vizzotti stated that this decision is based on an analysis carried out by the National Institute of Medicines based on clinical evidence proving its applicability.
