In broad daylight, in Pasaje García Calderón del Cercado in Lima, prostitution takes place near a school and the curator Alfonso Ugarte. The incident has been reported by the residents of the area, who cannot see or go out quietly without the fear of encountering an unpleasant scene.
Sexual acts for money occur at any time of the day, but they increase on weekends at night. The neighbors have dozens of records from their security cameras in which men are seen attending to their customers on the sidewalk or on some concrete benches that exist in the place.
“We want serenade 24 hours a day. Personally, I have a 7-year-old girl who I can't leave her or go near the window, because in front of my window are those benches in which these individuals engage in prostitution,” a neighbor told the 24 Horas news program.
In addition, they indicated that the majority of men who engage in prostitution in this passage are of Venezuelan nationality. In fact, at the time of the report, a Venezuelan was sitting on one of the concrete benches, however, he refused to engage in prostitution.
HOSTELS LENOS
Families living in the area also ask the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima to close the hostels located in the passage, as they consider that this would be another reason why some men prefer to provide their services in that area of the Historic Center.
“We're really tired. This is all due to the hostels we have here. There are three hostels where gentlemen and gentlemen enter in the morning, afternoon and night. Since they can't find space, they do it here on the street. Three or four get together and do obscene acts. We can't even get out because those benches are full,” said another neighbor.
In addition, they said that schoolchildren who returned to face-to-face classes would also be harmed by this reality, which so far has not been resolved by the authorities. “It is important that our call is heard, because students pass through here and it would be painful if they are watching these shows in broad daylight,” said another citizen.
The Municipality of Lima has not yet commented on the measures it will carry out to eradicate prostitution from these streets.
OPERATION AGAINST PROSTITUTION
Last Saturday night, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) executed a egaoperative against prostitution that haunts the streets of Lima. This was in the Tirón Risso and its surroundings, in the district of Lince. About 43 women and 31 men were involved.
More than 400 agents, with the support of Lince's serenades, raided premises located in Arequipa, Petit Thouars, Arenales and Jirón Risso avenues, among other streets. A firearm was found in one of the clandestine establishments.
The PNP indicated that those intervened were taken on buses to police stations to go through an identity check and verify whether they have any requirements in force. They also carried out an operation in the Zepita and Chancay shreds, in the Cercado de Lima, where street prostitution also prevails.
